One Day Fly Fishing School
Learn the basics of Fly Fishing with our one-day school. This class is designed to get you started quickly so you may build confidence and knowledge of the basics. Topics covered during class include:

- Introduction to Fly Fishing
- What is Fly Fishing and how is it different than convention spin or baitcasting?
- Complete overview and explanation on the basic fly fishing tackle needed to start.
- Leaders, Knots and Knot Tying.
- Selecting the right flies and rigging to fish Dry, Wet, Nymphs, and Streamers.
- Basic Trout Foods – Entomology: the bugs and how to match them.
- Reading the Water, tactics to find and approach fish in streams, rivers, lakes & ponds.
- Fly Casting Instruction: forward and backcast, roll cast, mending & shooting line, line control.
Schedule: 7 Hour Class: Times scheduled by the instructor
For 2025: One Day Schools for one or two anglers are held by appointment only.
Location: Depending on the time of year, classes will be held on the water at our local casting pond or on location at a local small stream or river. Please consult with the instructor at the time of reservation. Normally classes are held April through October weather permitting.
School Fee: $350.00 for one student; 475.00 for two students
Fee includes:

- Lunch, Snacks & Cold Drinks
- Use of all fly fishing equipment excluding wading equipment.
Students, please bring the following items to class:

- Ball Cap
- Polarized Eye-wear
- Flip focals, magnifiers, or reading glasses for knot tying (if needed).
- Waders, Waist Waders or Hip Boots for wading in the stream (felt soles or studded rubber soles recommended)
- Rain Jacket
- Notebook and Pen for note-taking.
- Sun Block
